Om var havet slutar och att lära av varandra... / Where the sea ends and learning from each other…

När ett år av konst tvingas in i en utställningslokal, får det då plats? Skulle konsten kunna fylla havet och var slutar egentligen det?
Femton förstaårsstudenter på Konstfacks kandidatprogram Konst försöker i utställningen Var slutar havet besvara dessa frågor genom en mängd olika verk som kommunicerar med varandra för att hitta en gemensam grund. "Det vi har fyllt rummet med är skulpturer, målningar, textil- och audiovisuell konst. Vi har skapat rum i rummen och rum utan väggar. Genom hela utställningen fortsätter vi att lära oss om varandras konstnärliga uttryck; vi observerar vågornas rörelser, hur de flödar och krockar med varandra. Vid samtal om havet som ett utställningsrum låter vi vattnet spilla över. Vi låter vår konst förändras och växa sida vid sida. Detta är bara början och vi välkomnar er att bevittna och ta del av hur havet expanderar."

When a year of art is forced to be enclosed in an exhibition space, will it fit? Could the art fill the ocean, and where does that actually end?
Fifteen first-year students on the Bachelor’s programme in Fine Art at Konstfack attempt, in the exhibition Var slutar havet (Where Does the Sea End), to address these questions through a wide range of works that communicate with one another in order to find common ground. "What we have filled the space with are sculptures, paintings, textile works, and audiovisual art. We have created rooms within rooms, and rooms without walls. Throughout the exhibition, we continue to learn about each other’s artistic expressions; we observe the movements of the waves, how they flow and collide with one another. In conversations about the sea as an exhibition space, we allow the water to spill over. We allow our art to change and grow side by side. This is only the beginning, and we welcome you to witness and take part in how the sea expands."
