On caretaking of found objects and the borderland where the private and public meet

Mariana Pestana and Elis Essinger welcome you to their Master of Fine Art solo exhibitions at Konstfack. Vernissage Friday 21 February, 5 – 8 pm.

Mariana Pestana: Soft Landing
Mariana Pestana (b. 1997) is a student in the final year of the MFA programme whose practice is centred around found objects. After careful selection, the collected objects are brought to the studio where the passing of time – however much that may take – and much deliberation, determine her manoeuvre. The desire to take care of these abandoned items motivates every action she pursues.

Location and dates: Gallery Konstfack, Tellusgången 16, 21 February – 2 March 2025, 12 – 5 pm

Elis Essinger: To Cut a Long Story Short
Elis Essinger’s (b. 1994) master exhibition at Konstfack centers around the interaction between the individual and structures. The works touch on themes of identity, systems, and the signs that surround us in the borderland where the private and public merge or collide.
The exhibition shows sculptural works created with both laser cutters and handcraft. Machine precision meets craftsmanship, where the repetitive digital technique contrasts with the organic in the manual work.

Location and dates: Gallery Pölen, Konstfack, 21 February – 2 March 2025, 12 – 4 pm, or by appointment
