Entanglements – Konstfack Research Lab reinterprets the Hallwyl Museum

"Entanglements is the result of a year long partnership between the Hallwyl Museum and Research Lab at Konstfack University of Arts, Crafts and Design. Five contemporary artists working with craft have investigated the house, its archives and its histories and creating new works in response; Diana Butucariu, Mike Fedak, Caitlin Heffernan, María Renée Morales Lam and Harry Parr-Young.

The Hallwyl Museum, like most historic houses, is the product of many skilled makers – from the craftspeople who built it to the artists whose works are on display. Unlike most houses, however, it was a home that was designed to become a museum and its extensively catalogued contents range from the very personal to internationally important paintings and objects.

This exhibition explores what happened when contemporary artists, designers and makers use their craft skills to reinterpret the Hallwyl Museum for a new generation: unpicking the past in order to explore the present."
Matt Smith, Professor of Craft: Ceramics and Glass, Konstfack

The opening will be held on Friday 3 May between 4:30 and 6 pm (rsvp required to
researchlab.konstfack@gmail.com at 12 pm 3 May the latest)

The exhibition is open until 2 June. Mondays closed, Tuesday–Friday 12–4, Wednesdays 12–7, weekends 11–5.
