Possible shifts of position, relation and material. A pipe, a membrane, and a bright light.

Welcome to the solo exhibitions In the vein, a river by Charlie Vince Jakobsson and Raw with sunburn by Inês Varandas, both graduating students at the Master’s Programme in Fine Art.

Opening Friday 14 March 17–20 in Vita Havet.

In the vein, a river presents a gathering of oil paintings on jute and mixed-media sculptures that, with gentle activation, can transform into instruments. The exhibition holds: Possible shifts of position, relation and material. Gesture, gesture, gesture and performative sun. Significant clothing and small silver bells.

Raw with sunburn is a system, a leak, a lingering pain in the joints triggered by a sudden drop in temperature. A pond being pressed, de-pressed towards its center. Something in the air, being caught, getting trapped, released; a pipe, a membrane, and a bright light.

About the artists:
In Charlie Vince Jakobsson's (b. 2000) practice, traditional painting methods resonate with everyday materials and objects which act as scores in the painting process. His work consistently engages with how subtle shifts in everyday life — a small sound approaching or a soft skin that hardens — can operate as acts of resistance and resilience. charlievincejakobsson.com Contact: Charlievinces@gmail.com

Inês Varandas (b.2001) explores, in her artistic practice, atmospheres, climates and energetic transfers, on a physical-chemical level (meteorological, by touch) and on an emotional and interpersonal level (by affect, by mood). Varandas takes a close look into how things affect each other, how they allow themselves to be touched and through that touch change. A crucial element to her practice is the unfolding of meaning within words: an atmosphere is a surface of air; it is also a perimeter of feeling between two people. Typically, her work materializes into sculpture, installation and text. Contact: inesvarandas.info@gmail.com

Open 15–23 March 12–16 or by appointment.
