Translated photo and experimental separatism in Dominika Kasperska's and Saga Bok's BFA Exhibitions

Dominika Kasperska
Comprehensible Abstraction
Obstructed Abstraction

Dominika's practice is an exploration of how photos can be translated into painting and how digital technologies can help solve problems in painting. She tries to understand the balance between painting as method and painting as narrative.

By repeating a photograph through patterns and formations, it is neutralised. Instead of focusing on the motif, the painterly aspects can take over. Its forms are examined over and over again. Even though the picture becomes abstract, it feels more graspable than ever.

Saga Bok
Boundaries (and rebounds)

"But Saga, it's like everything you do in your art is to get fucked!" She exclaimed (just as many before her did).
"I know." I answered calmly, confidently.
Saga works with experimental separatism with an obvious intended viewer in focus. Through desperate urges, you are led through real obstacles and (possibly invited) into rooms of (lesbian) references, whose existence you may have until now been unaware of.

Opening in HAVET, Thursday 14 November 16–20

The exhibitions are open 15–24 November, Monday–Friday 10–16, Saturday–Sunday 12–16
