Welcome to the opening of Re-Construction “Here ... Now”, MFA solo exhibition by Sahar Alkhateeb

Welcome to the opening in havet, 18 February 5 to 7 pm

The exhibition shows a new work that explores the relations that Alkateeb have been reconstructing in their installations since 2012. This installation, “Here ... Now”, is one step in a changing relationship, one piece in a continuing series.

The chairs are still carrying the humans who used them, incarnating them. In this peace, plaster casts of chairs are part. Making the casts, a new process for me, meant a lot of destruction to the installation’s main chair: the process of putting the plaster and cutting it off with a knife was destroying the skin of the chair.

The seesaw? It broke in the process of balancing the power. The conversation broke. The opposing side, sticking together, backing each other, too heavy.

The exhibition is open 18–26 February, Tuesday to Friday 12–6 pm in havet at Konstfack. Due to Covid-19, the school is closed for external visitors so the exhibition will be shown at our digital gallery KonstfackEXHIB a couple of days after the opening.
