Belonging, resistance and radical hopefulness, 14–23 May

Welcome to yet another Degree Exhibition at Konstfack and at konstfack2025.se where this year's 200 degree students are showing their projects. The broadly and internationally established curators Abir Boukhari and Ulrika Flink find that the students, through their projects, explore the complexities of an unstable world while envisioning alternative ways to inhabit it. "Some create spaces for gathering, dreaming, or grieving, while others transform waste into acts of care, reclaim ancestral memories, or attentively address the experiences of the mind and body in pain. Many navigate the tension between past and future, balancing the urgency of the present with the slower rhythms of making, growth, and healing. They graduate at a time when old systems are breaking down and when the language of certainty no longer holds. And yet, in these uncertain times, they offer belonging, resistance, and radical hope”.

The visual identity of the exhibition is created by Sofia Ljungberg and Hilda Tenow Benulic, both alumni of the Graphic Design and Illustration bachelor's programme. In the design, they explore the feeling of creative flow – the state of deep concentration where thoughts and ideas freely and naturally flow together through intuition and experience, where time and surroundings blur and the feeling of being completely absorbed in the creative process arises.

Konstfack's Vice-Chancellor Anna Valtonen reflects on “when we are in a creative flow, we can think anew, see different perspectives, insights and solutions and focus on experimentation. In this world under constant change, with rapid societal shifts happening all over the world, we need new perspectives and experiments that make us think in new ways. Taking the graphic designers’ concepts a bit further, I can also see creative flow in a bigger perspective for the students where the Degree Exhibition is part of a larger flow of life. It might be the culmination of their studies, but they have spent years building up their knowledge and skills, learning from different sources, environments and encounters. It also feeds into the future, where our students can inspire society for decades to come. I hope this exhibition will engage all of us who have the opportunity to take part, to see how the work in this exhibition can raise our curiosity, exploration and ability to enjoy the new and unknown. The future doesn’t happen, it is created. We are all building it together”.

Previews for journalists, curators or gallerists: Wednesday, 14 May, 10–12 at Konstfack where bachelor's, master's and teacher students are exhibiting and 1–3 pm at Färgfabriken and Platform Stockholm where the master's students in fine art are exhibiting.
