Refusing indifference while exploring unfamiliar paths at Konstfack's Degree Exhibition 2026
Welcome to Konstfack, Färgfabriken and Platform Stockholm, 13–24 May.
"In the exhibition at Konstfack, a new generation emerges from a world under pressure, carrying both awareness and insistence. The works do not soften what surrounds them. War, demolition, ecological strain, and systems of excess remain present. Rather than retreating into despair, the students take an active position, attentive to what is at risk and committed to working through it. They remind us that attention itself can be a form of resistance. The exhibition does not promise resolution or claim to solve all challenges. Instead, it presents a collective stance: to stay involved, to question, to propose, and to refuse indifference. Through that commitment, another horizon becomes possible."/ Abir Boukhari and Ulrika Flink, curators
This year's graphic concept is created by Konstfack alumni Otis Huss and Einar Zotterman. They have used the classic, playful drawing game "connect the dots" as a way of speaking about research and process – about how things are linked together such as thoughts, themes, people, artistic freedom... But it is also a way of describing the paths into Konstfack and how, once here as a student, you can connect the dots in your own, completely unique way.
Konstfack's Vice-Chancellor Anna Valtonen reflects how, "(...) in a rapidly changing world, the gesture of reconnecting or intentionally misconnecting as the graphic concept suggests, has become essential. Established sequences no longer hold the same certainty, and familiar paths do not always lead where we need to go. In a world shaped by rapid technological change, ecological urgency, and social transformation, the challenge before us is not a lack of dots, but how we choose to see and connect them. How can we create something that takes form in human, cultural, and ethical contexts, and how can we imagine what does not yet exist?"
Previews for journalists, curators and gallerists: Wednesday, 13 May, from 10 am at Konstfack where bachelor's, master's and teacher education students are exhibiting and at Färgfabriken and Platform Stockholm where the master's students in fine art are presenting works.
Vernissage: Wednesday 13 May from 12–7 pm with inauguration speeches at 4:30 pm at Konstfack and 5:30 pm at Färgfabriken.
