WEEKEND 4 WINNERS!

FIM Motocross World Championship

Red Bull KTM Factory Racing’s Jeffrey Herlings put on a great performance under the night lights of the Losail track in Qatar at the season opener, as he returns to MX2 category following almost a six month layoff due to a broken femur sustained last season. The Dutchman enjoyed a good battle in race one with Dylan Ferrandis, and got away in the second moto by lap three to cement a 1-1 finish with very little bike time under his belt in the pre-season to take the overall win aboard his KTM 250 SX-F. Teammate Pauls Jonass had a solid start in his first GP with the KTM factory team as he took sixth overall.

Herlings: "It was pretty amazing. We have had a tough time both mentally and physically because of the injury. I didn't expect to win here and this was something really special. I'll remember it for a long time. Now I hope to keep up this rhythm and if I can put the bike on the podium again next week I am already happy."

In the higher capacity class Tony Cairoli, who is not totally fit at the present time, went 3-4 for fourth position overall, which has formed a strong foundation for his 2015 championship assault aboard his KTM 350 SX-F. Ken de Dycker had a tough outing at the Qatar race, while Tommy Searle unfortunately had to retire from proceedings, as he aggravated an old thumb injury.

FIM Supercross World Championship

It was another successful night on Saturday for the Red Bull KTM factory team at the Atlanta 2 round of the Supercross World Championship. In the 450-class Ryan Dungey took the victory aboard his KTM 450 SX-F, his third of the season, by a superb seven seconds, which extends his championship lead to 30 points at the halfway mark of the of 17-round series. Marvin Musquin took another solid victory in the East Coast 250SX Championship with a perfect gate-to-flag performance on the KTM 250 SX-F. Musquin heads into the next round with a seven-point advantage.

Dungey: “It’s a happy day for our team with Marvin and I both taking wins. I was able to make some quick passes and my bike was flawless. I can’t thank my Red Bull KTM Team enough for all of their support.”

Musquin: “The key is to get a good start. My bike is so strong off the start, which helps me so much in these races. I’m really happy to extend the points lead and I am looking forward to Daytona next weekend, as it is typically a challenging race that pushes all of us.”

FIM SuperEnduro World Championship

The Orange Army was in full battledress at the fifth and penultimate round of the FIM SuperEnduro championship in Belo Horizonte, Brazil on Saturday night with KTM riders sealing the first four places in the Prestige Class of the competition. After three high-action races, the overall win went to KTM USA’s Cody Webb with a 1-2-3 result, followed by Great Britain’s David Knight in second, with the two Red Bull KTM Factory riders Taddy Blazusiak, the championship leader, and Jonny Walker in third and fourth.

Webb: ”After getting so close numerous times for the overall victory it feels great to have finally got my first win in SuperEnduro. Coming into the final race I was tied on points with Walker for the overall but then we crashed in the first corner. I got going again but crashed a second time. Somehow I managed to claw my way back to the third and it was enough for the overall.”
