"It's not the end of the world" - Julia Jonas
Julia Jonas is a singer-songwriter/producer based in Stockholm, Sweden. Julia's recent release “Walk With Me” captured the imagination of listeners all over when fashion brand Ellos used it for their TV fashion campaign in 2019. Covers of the song have since been released by well known Swedish artists such as; Loreen, Sabina Ddumba, Molly Sandén, Molly Hammar & Jennifer Brown.
In 2014, Julia toured Europe with Swedish instrumental band; Wintergatan. Inspired by the self-made instruments of the band, Julia started recording her own sample sound library ranging from beating the rails of the bridges to sampling a selection of antique music instruments dating back to the 16th century. Producing her own songs has always been an important part of her creative process as she strives to constantly evolve her sound as a music producer.
In 2017, Julia’s music was featured in Iman Al Debe’s collection at Mercedes Benz fashion week in Doha.
“These past couple of weeks, I’ve been performing my songs alone at the piano at the french bistro Paname in Stockholm. I love feeling the affinity between people when sharing a live experience, particularly in a musical sense. It is what I appreciate most about performing. People who might not have much in common other than being united in that specific moment. The most exciting thing about a live performance is that no one really knows what will happen next.” - Julia Jonas
Julia was raised in Stockholm but born in Cape Town, to a Belgian mother and South African father. With a melting pot of travel and cultural references to draw from, Julia´s ethereal melodies and pure, crisp voice is often described as: magical, refreshingly raw and at all times honest to her life and experiences. Julia completed a Master of Arts in music production at the Royal College of Music in Stockholm.
“End Of The World” is Julia´s upcoming release- “It's a song about the way our mind and thoughts evolve throughout life and how shapeable we are.”
