Beyond Borders - nytt unikt dansprojekt i Lindesberg

Beyond Borders är ett unikt dansprojekt i Lindesberg med Kazue Ikeda som startar lördag 21 maj i Lindesberg Arena. Kazue Ikeda är en dansare, performance-artist och koreograf från Japan. Hon har bott och verkat i Tyskland och New York men är sedan en tid tillbaka bosatt i Lindesbergs kommun.

Under sina studier på SFI kom Kazue i kontakt med människor som alla korsat gränser på sin väg till Sverige. Det inspirerade henne till dansprojektet Beyond Borders. Syftet med projektet är att upptäcka och utveckla språk mellan människor som har olika bakgrund, livserfarenheter och kulturer genom dans, rörelse och den egna rösten. 

Projektet sätter i gång med en Prova på-workshop lördagen 21 maj kl 14.00 i Lindesbergs Arena. Den kommer att vara öppen för alla; gammal som ung, svensk som nysvensk, kvinnor som män. Alla som är nyfikna på dans och vill upptäcka hur vi kan kommunicera utan ord men genom dans. 

"Det här är en unik möjlighet att få uppleva dans under Kazues ledning - och workshopen kommer att avslutas med en klassisk FIKA", säger kultursekreterare Sara Sporre i ett pressmeddelande.

Under hösten kommer projektet att pågå under åtta vardagskvällar på Sandströms.

Mer om Kazue Ikeda

Kazue Ikeda (föddes i Kobe, Japan) är dansare, performance-artist, koreograf och certifierad Craniosacral Biodynamics-terapeut. Hennes koreografier och soloverk presenteras i USA, Japan, Tyskland, Sverige och Europa. Hon undervisar i nutida dansteknik, improvisation, kontaktimprovisation, komposition och “body awareness”.

Efter hennes dansutbildning i Osaka och New York, lärde hon sig Floor Movement (Floor Barre), Alexander Technique, Iyanger Yoga, Susan Klein Technique, Feldenkrais och utbildade sig i Craniosacral Biodynamics. Dessa aspekter integrerar hon ihop i egna konceptet av dansteknik och arbetet med kroppen, som baserar på balansen mellan styrka och släppa loss, kroppsmedvetenhet, rörelse och energiflöde.

I New York (1991-1995) arbetade hon med The Kevin Wynn Collection, Bill T. Jones/Arnie Zane Dance Company, Anna Sokolow's Players' Project, Alan Danielson, Heidi Latsky med flera.

I Tyskland (1999-2015) arbetade hon på Oldenburgisches Staatstheater/Tanztheater och jobbade med olika artister som Helena Waldmann, Christoph Winkler, Iztok Kovač, Posttheater, Christian Ziegler, Tatraum Projekte Schmidt med flera.

Hon har fått första priset "Das beste deutsche Tanzsolo" på Euro-Scene Leipzig 1999 och hennes soloverk "re/lease" tilldelades tredje plats och kritikernas pris på “International Festival of Choreographic Miniatures” Belgrad 2008. "re/lease" turnerade också med finalisterna av “13. Internationales Solo-Tanz-Theater Festival”, Stuttgart 2009. 

Hon var artist in residence hos Tanzfabrik Berlin, Schloss Bröllin och Künstlerhaus Lukas Ahrenshoop. 

På vinterterminen 2008 var hon gästprofessor på School of Dance, Korea National University of Arts, och i 2009 på Han Sung University i Seoul, Sydkorea. Från och med 2009 lär hon på Center for Contemporary Dance, University for Music and Dance Cologne.

Idag lever och arbetar Kazue Ikeda i Lindesbergs kommun.

Kazue Ikeda om Beyond Borders

At my SFI-lessons I met classmates coming from Syria, Eritrea, and Kazakhstan … Their lives are affected by politics, violent conflicts, families torn apart … lives torn apart. Often they had to leave all they had, all they were … It was shocking for me to hear their stories. What felt kind of distant when I heard it in the media, happens to to people close to me. Most of my classmates crossed different countries on their escape – Turkey, Italia, Iraq, Austria, France, Netherland, Germany, Norway … Some of them were threatened by the police on their way and were arrested. Some of them took a small boat over the Mediterranean or crossed the countries on a truck or flew by air plane paying with all they had. Often their families still live in their home town or are scattered over several other countries. All their experiences are about borders being crossed: of totalitarian systems into private life, of religions into beliefs, of refugees passing a chain of countries not welcoming them but instead threatening and humiliating … But beyond all these borders each of them carries something along within: their humanity, their love, their longing, their family, their home, their heart … Their language, songs and dance. Though the current situation in their home countries is horrible, they told me about their countries, landscapes, families and cultures – the beauty, warmth, the laughter and the sounds on the streets, the easiness of living. They had horrible times, but now they are positive to live here in Sweden. So they study Swedish hard, me as well. For us as immigrants it's not easy to get an opportunity to communicate with Swedish people in the beginning.

How can we cross this border?

Dance, movement, and voice express ourselves without explaining, without constructing meaning with words, limited by language and translation. This body work attaches to and develops self-consciousness, emotions, and thoughts – behind words, within our body itself.

In this project we will use this wonderful tool “body” to open ourselves, connect to each other and communicate – creating a new experience shared with the others. I will guide the participants through exercises on body awareness, movement and improvisation. In these exercises they will observe their own body, movements, and feeling. They will learn how their body and movements belong together and thus understand themselves. Once we understand ourselves, the communication through movements will open to the other. In our interplay we create our united world, share one language, integrate and meet each other without violence.
