”Her Selfie” – a social closet is the sequel to the film ”Her Self” – a portrait, a planned series of contemporary portraits. Her Selfie’s producer / actress Maud Karlsson and film director Martin Lima de Faria, in collaboration with Lydmar, invite you to the opening with screenings and artist talks.

Both films have been shown at the Cannes International Film Festival Short Film Corner. Her Self has toured Art Hearts Fashion in New York, World Art Dubai, Berlin International Film Festival at Creative Minds and Reykjavik, Iceland. Her Selfie has its Stockholm premiere at Lydmar. From a stylistic point of view, we can sense Roy Andersson’s later work, as Her Self and Her Selfie has been filmed by Jesper Klevenås, cinematographer behind “Songs From the Second Floor“.

The conversations promise to be extremely interesting, as the film touches upon the complexity of social media – both the alluring possibilities that tickle our curiosity and vanity as well as the tendencies of losing oneself. Tonight’s smartphone-framed version is seen in a 16 minute loop with an interactive camera that will take pictures of the viewer and integrate them in the work itself and is available in a limited edition. Maud Karlsson works as a visual artist and a dancer and is a graduate from the Ballet Academy in Stockholm. She began her professional career as a dancer in New York the first 11 years. 30 years later, she now produces art work – sculpture, design, photography and paintings - through exhibitions, performances, site specifics, commissioned works and talk shows. Maud works with the concept Her Story which is the overall title of a larger body of work addressing women’s history and female stories with a multitude of artistic expressions. The work as a whole is an attempt at making the unseen woman visible, beautifying her struggles yet never diminishing her life. Bringing the past into the now, realizing the women of our own time and the continuous work that needs to be addressed in the name of equality. Woman to woman. Martin Lima de Faria. Upon graduation from The National Danish Film School with the award winning film “Brainstorm”, Martin’s work often deals with existential issues. He has since worked with Ingmar Bergman and has directed several films, among them “Heartbeat” with Alexander Skarsgård, awarded at Cannes Film Festival as well as the miniature art film “Little Love”, shown at Cannes Film Festival Short Film Corner. Martin has held art film screenings and several fine art photo exhibitions in New York, San Francisco, Dubai and Tokyo. Martin has also collaborated as an innovator with the UN in visualizing the Global Goals (The SDG’s) and creating carbon dioxide absorbing art in collaboration with Åbo University, Finland and Coimbra University, Portugal. www.martinlimadefaria.com
