Trumpet Competition indefinitely postponed
In October 2021, marking world leading trumpet soloist Håkan Hardenberger’s 60th birthday, Malmö Live Concert Hall and The Danish Broadcast Corporation announced The Hardenberger International Trumpet Competition – a new competition for young trumpet players meant to be held for the first time in October 2023 in Copenhagen and Malmö.
After a long and hard effort to raise funding for the international trumpet competition, the two institutions now have to realize not being able to go through with the project for the time being.
It has to be concluded, that the timing simply is not right – there are too many obstacles to overcome; post pandemic economy, war, inflation etc., making it not possible to obtain the financing needed to premiere the competition in 2023 or in the nearest future.
We are sorry about the disappointment this causes for young musicians all over the world and not least Håkan Hardenberger himself, who has contributed with his enthusiasm, experience and hard work to the efforts of making the competition happen.
We hope to be able to revisit the still brilliant idea and pick up the planning of an international trumpet competition at a later stage in the future.

Om Malmö Live Konserthus
Malmö Live Konserthus är mötesplatsen för musik, kultur och nöjesliv i Malmö. Med omkring 800 konserter och arrangemang om året på flera olika spelplatser finns något för musikälskare i alla åldrar.
