Boxer Mikaela Laurén keeps her WBPF World Champion title

In the middle of the night between July 23 and 24, Mikaela Laurén defeated English Angel McKenzie in the fight about the WBPF-belt. All referees unanimously had Laurén as the winner. Laurén won the WBPF-belt in a match against the American Jill Emery in 2010.

The match Laurén vs McKenzie was part of a boxixng gala in Chiva, Spain. The fight went over ten rounds, which was the second time in her career Laurén boxed that distance. It was a well prepared and wel trained Laurén who entered the ring and who most likely fought her best match ever in her career. The she fought well is also reflected in the referees judgement

"I´m extremely happy to win the fight. I've worked so hard and prepared myself for it," says Mikaela. "I think I gave her a really hard fight, landed some good hits, but she refused to give up. She really is tough," she continues and looks very pleased.

Carlos Echegaray,Lauréns coach, and also the head coach of boxing club BK Dalen in Stockholm is pleased with his boxer. "It went according to plan. She has improved as a boxer a lot during the last year, which of course doesn't automatically mean that you win fights. But tonight she used her head well and performed so brilliantly," says Echegaray.

Mikaela Laurèn was before the fight ranked as number three according to WBANs (Womens Boxing Archive Network). According to Boxre's ranking she's number seven in the world in her class. After her match against McKenzie, Laurén has a record of 10(2)-1(1)0, ten wins, two KO, one loss and no draws.
