Pressmeddelande -

Sweden's leading property developer are now equipping all new nursing homes with FIDO units

Sehlhall Properties becomes the first property developer in Sweden to install life-saving oxygen equipment in all new nursing home developments, consequently ensuring that oxygen treatment is available for residents as well as staff and visitors to the buildings. Sehlhall chooses Mirola Rescue and the technical innovation FIDO as their oxygen solution due to the system's unique properties.

FIDO, short for Field Oxygen System, is a Swedish medtech invention that challenges on the global market. Due to the closed circuit technology, the weight of the system is 90% lighter and the size four times smaller than existing oxygen solutions. The fact that the system also is mobile and works completely without electricity enables oxygen treatment in places and in situations where treatment has not been possible before.

- The mobile devices have many advantages. Among other things, they have a re-breathing unit that makes it possible to consume a smaller amount of oxygen, which makes the consumption of oxygen lower than when using traditional systems. In addition, the mobile oxygen device can accompany a resident during transport to the hospital. You do not have to wait for an ambulance if it is far away, says Dan T. Sehlberg, CEO of Sehlhall Properties

In a traditional system, the inhaled air is very cold and dry. In order for the oxygen to be used, additional systems are required to make the inhaled air moist and warm. In FIDO, the oxygen is heated and moistened directly via medical soda lime, in the unit's cartridge filter. A process that is completely mechanical and requires neither electricity nor additional equipment.

-Everyone who has ever breathed cold and dry oxygen knows how arduous it is, especially if the treatment needs to continue for some time. For older people whom also have fragile mucous membranes, it is extremely important that the air in an oxygen system is heated and moist, says Jonny Berzelius, founder of Mirola Rescue

In Sweden, oxygen were available in almost all nursing homes until the 1990s. But unlike Norwegian nursing homes, where oxygen is common, this potentially life-saving equipment has almost completely disappeared in Sweden. Despite its life-saving properties.

-As a real estate company, we neither can nor want to get involved in the healthcare debate itself. When and where oxygen is to be used is a responsibility of doctors and caregivers. But we want to ensure that this life-saving opportunity is available if needed, says Dan T. Sehlberg

The oxygen equipment now being installed by Sehlhall, in the form of Mirola Rescue's FIDO units, are small and mobile systems, which simplifies operating them greatly.

The first of Sehlhall's nursing homes to receive Mirola Rescue's mobile oxygen units are currently being built in Upplands Väsby and Täby, Sweden.
