Digital mentoring program helpful in securing job at Volvo

Shruti PS came to Sweden 2 years ago and found it difficult to find a job that matches her competences. She came across Mitt Livs Chans online, a digital mentoring program for highly educated international talents in Sweden, and decided to join.

“Mitt Livs Chans online was really convenient for me. The meetings were mostly held during lunch time and I could attend from anywhere. I just needed to connect with my mobile phone or computer”, says Shruti. Another reason to join the program was the fact that it was completely held in English since Shruti was still developing her Swedish language skills.

Shruti felt that the mentoring program was a valuable experience for her. She has received support and guidance from her mentor Karin Bistedt, project manager at Stena Line, to help her understand the job market better.

“My mentor Karin is the most generous and friendly person I have met so far. She was constantly guiding me whenever I have job interviews to boost my confidence. Even though it has been a while since we finished the program we still contact each other and meet regularly. Our relationship has grown from mentorship to friendship,” Shruti adds happily.

Shruti informed us recently that she had secured a job at Volvo financial services as a financial analyst, a job that indeed matches her qualifications and previous experience.

“My experience as a participant in Mitt Livs Chans online was really helpful as the program is widely recognized at Volvo group. Having the mentoring program on my resume brings an interesting topic during interview. Plus, there are several Mitt Livs Chans mentors working at Volvo financial services and my participation became more like a reference for me.”
