Nice buys Matador Film

Nice entertainment group has acquired 100% of the shares in Matador Film AB.

Matador Film was started by producer Henrik Widman and script writer Lasse Lundström in 2009. The company has created and co-produced two seasons of the television success “Äkta Människor/Real Humans” for SVT. “Äkta människor” is also produced in a local version in several countries, such as the English-speaking remake “Humans” for Channel 4 (UK) / AMC (US) – where the third season currently is in pre-production. Matador Film has also co-produced the television series “Farang” for C More/TV4 in Sweden.

Matador Film will be a part of Nice Drama, and Lasse Lundström will work exclusively for Nice Drama, that now strengthens its position as one of the leading scripted production companies in Scandinavia. Lars Lundström is one of the most successful script writers in Scandinavia, and he has written and created television series such as “Äkta Människor”, “Tusenbröder”, “Pistvakt”, “Labyrint” and “Poliser”, and he will strengthen Nice Drama with several new development projects for both broadcaster and SVOD-platforms.

Nice Drama is one of the most successful production companies in Sweden, and is behind successes such as the award winning “Midnattssol” (“Midnight Sun”) and “Tjockare än Vatten” (“Thicker than water”) on SVT, and the soon-to-premiere series “Hassel” for Viaplay.

The company has also produced the Oscar nominated film “Hundraåringen som klev ut genom fönstret och försvann” (“The 100-year-old man who climbed out of the window and disappeared”) and the sequel “Hundraettåringen som smet från notan och försvann” (The 101-year-old man who skipped out on the bill and disappeared”), and the documentary “Superswede” following the life of the late Formula 1 Star Ronnie Peterson currently screening on cinemas all over Sweden.
