Long-standing monopoly on HDPE nonwoven has come to an end

HDPE nonwoven is a material that most people recognize as it is often used in wristbands for festivals and amusement parks. It is an incredibly durable and water-resistant nonwoven that resembles coated paper. For many years, one industry player has had a monopoly on manufacturing as the manufacturing process is very complicated. But now we collaborate with a manufacturer who has succeeded in producing a corresponding material with the same properties.

HDPE stands for High Density Polyethylene and is a nonwoven with very strong properties. Our HDPE nonwoven, called Scanoflash, has the same properties as today's established HDPE nonwoven, which means that it has a very high tensile strength, is easy to print on and is waterproof but let’s steam pass through. It can also handle very rough handling without the material and print being affected.

Our HDPE nonwoven, Scanoflash is recyclable and is a more climate-friendly alternative to PVC. We offer Scanoflash in different weights on roll or sheet. We also have the option of coating our Scanoflash to add or enhance properties in the material.

The areas of use for Scanoflash are many:

Printing products: It can be used for printing products that must be able to withstand tough weather conditions. For example, entry wristbands, number tags for various competitions and security envelopes. It is also optimized for printed outdoor products that, unlike paper, needs to be resistant to water and be handled carelessly without the print being affected.

Protective clothing: Since the material is incredibly durable and can let steam pass through, it can be used for protective clothing, both in construction and healthcare, as well as high-risk waste handling of harmful or chemical substances as it is so tight that it does not allow mold, asbestos or lead to pass through.

Maps and drawings: It is used in maps, drawings or blue prints that need to withstand rain and tough weather conditions. The print on Scanoflash is very precise and the material can withstand quite tough condition without damaging the quality of the print or lose its properties.

Absorbents: Desiccants for long-distance transport of goods that encapsulate moisture need to have a very high tensile strength as the liquid that the absorbents encapsulate over time has a high weight. Therefore, Scanoflash is particularly suitable for this type of absorbent due to its strength and ability to let moisture and steam through while blocking water.

Construction: Scanoflash is very suitable for various types of construction products in walls and ceilings as it is inorganic, long lasting and breathable. Scanoflash is very strong and stable with low elongation. In addition, the material is so dense that it blocks harmful substances such as mould, asbestos or lead.

Healthcare: Scanoflash can be used for protective clothing in healthcare as it prevents bacteria from getting through. This also makes it suitable for sterile packaging.

Packaging: Scanoflash is used in the packaging industry when there are high demands on durability and good printing possibilities. The material can, among other things, be used to seal packages as a cover or lid.
