Time for Sustainable Nonwoven in Your Production?

Nonwoven is an amazing material. Its non-organic properties make it durable and frequently used in everything from beds, diapers, filters and construction. But with climate awareness the demand for recycled nonwovens are increasing – and we think that’s great. Here are some examples.

PET bottles

There is a limited number of times a PET bottle can be recycled into a new bottle. After that, PET-bottles can be recycled into nonwoven. The plastic is turned into plastic granulates that is used to make different types of nonwoven, for example needle punched felt and spunbond.

Left overs from production?

Needle punched felt is a soft material with a high level of air permeability. It’s also a material that is easy to recycle. Needle punched felt that is left over from cutting in production can be sold to third parties that use it in their production. It can of course also be reused in production. We have seen example of leftover needle punched felt used to make warm soles for example.

Biodegradable spunbond

Spunbond is a nonwoven made from different types of plastics with different properties. One type of spunbond is made from PLA which is a starch-based biodegradable spunbond. It is as an example often used to replace plastic bags.

A world of nonwoven industry textiles

At Scandinavian Nonwoven, we have a long history of working with and offering amazing nonwoven materials to our many customers in the manufacturing industry in northern Europe.
We offer Scandinavia’s largest range of nonwoven materials, and in many cases help our customers develop customized materials suited to their specific needs.

The company was founded in 1982 by two Swedes who by then had already been working with nonwoven for 20 years. They recognized the opportunities that this amazing material has to offer and wanted to help customers seize these opportunities. In-depth knowledge about the material and a close relationship with our customers have been important to us right from the start.

Since then, many industries have realized the advantages offered by the amazing flexible nonwoven.
