Nordbex appoints CEO for the Nybro carbon negative power plant and intensifies construction plans
Nybro, 25 September 2024 – Nordbex is proud to announce the key recruitment of Niklas Lindvall as the new CEO for the planned carbon-negative power plant in Nybro municipality. Lindvall, with his extensive experience as a project manager, construction manager, and operations manager for Nybro Energi, brings valuable expertise in leading the detailed planning and construction of an energy-efficient and well-functioning power plant. His solid experience, combined with his extensive local network of contractors, plays a crucial role in both the upcoming construction and the future operation of the facility.
The target remains to commence construction in the autumn of 2025. Preparations are in full swing to enable this, and an important step has been to adjust the choice of technology for the ongoing project in Nybro. From an initial plan involving biomass gasification, the project has now shifted to a more conventional combined heat and power (CHP) solution, optimised for power generation with integrated carbon removal. This strategic decision, along with the recruitment of Niklas Lindvall, facilitates keeping the schedule to make Nybro one of Sweden’s first carbon-negative municipalities.
“We are currently in a very intense period and are preparing for the next step, which involves more detailed engineering to prepare for construction. There are many positive developments both in the project and at Nordbex, and we look forward to sharing more good news in the near term,” says Thomas Öström, CEO of Nordbex.
