Hannes Hasselrot – The new CEO of Nordiska Kompaniet is now in place
In recent days, Hannes Hasselrot has stepped into his role as the new CEO of Nordiska Kompaniet.
After a few days on the job, we took the opportunity to ask him a few questions:
Who are you, Hannes?
I am 44 years old and live in Stockholm with my wife and two children. I originally come from Finspång in Östergötland. My background is in chemistry, but for the past 25 years, I have held leadership roles in retail, both digital and physical. My journey began at H&M, first in Sweden and later in London. There, I had the opportunity to lead parts of the luxury department store Liberty, and I also have experience from Harrods. For the past 12 years, I have been based in Sweden while continuing to work internationally, including at Peak Performance. Most recently, I came from a Finnish publicly listed company that co-owns Kronans Apotek in Sweden, where I also served as CEO for a period.
What experiences do you bring from London?
Above all, that there are no shortcuts to delivering world-class service – every detail of the customer experience must be well thought-out and exceed expectations. This includes everything from an inspiring environment and relevant offers and assortment to five-star personal service. I bring with me the importance of always keeping the customer promise in every interaction while also daring to innovate – something I see as crucial for NK’s future.
You have extensive digital experience – how do you view physical retail versus e-commerce?
I don’t see physical and digital retail as opposites but rather as a "unified commerce," where we create a seamless experience for the customer. NK has always combined tradition with innovation, and to be a world-class department store, we must continue to evolve where the customer is – across all channels. We are a strong marketplace and a destination with unique opportunities. By both preserving our heritage and daring to innovate, we can create long-term value for customers, retailers, and owners.
