NK Inredning announcements during Stockholm Design Week.

NK Interior is celebrating Stockholm Design Week 2012 by presenting new brands as well as news from renowned designers. The recently founded Swedish brand Pieces is launched in collaboration with NK Inredning, and lamps by Inga Sempé produced by Wästberg are presented for the first time in a store.

– The design week is very important for us. This year we are both presenting a new Swedish brand as well as news from some of the top international designers, including Piet Hein Eek, Tom Dixon and Inga Sempé. They are all brilliant in bringing out the extraordinary of ordinary, use unexpected materials and inspire us to see the beauty in the simple and unsophisticated. Sustainability becomes more evident in design and we would like to celebrate designers that bring these qualities to design, says Kadi Harjak, CEO NK Inredning.

During Stockholm Design Week 2012 NK Inredning presents news from the designers Piet Hein Eek, sold exclusively at NK; Tom Dixon; Inga Sempé; Bocci; Wästberg: Pieces; and Anki Gneib. The new products are all presented in installations in the front windows on Hamngatan as well as in the store.

Trotters by Pieces

Pieces is collaborating with NK Inredning during Stockholm Design Week for their first exhibition. Pieces is a new design company founded by Jan Rutensköld and the designers behind TAF, Gabriella Gustafson and Mattias Ståhlbom. The name itself, as in parts, components, objects but also collectibles, express the common view of the project. The first collection Trotters describes as a small family of low tables and open cabinets with surprisingly powerful, elegant and playful feet made of wood, marble or white glazed porcelain, carrying stylish tables in wood and glass. The furniture is decorated with details in pearl white or orange silicone. The geometry is simple, with squares and rectangles and based on a genuine Swedish handicraft tradition.

– We have a number of ideas that we want to develop in a more independent context. We believe that there is a strong demand for unique, personal items of very high quality, locally produced in larger or more limited quantities. We start off with furniture. But the next collection may well be graphical prints, or just beautiful things with less focus on practical functionality, says Gabriella Gustafson, designer and co-founder of Pieces.
