OCAS signs up new customer in Central Europe

Oslo- June 16. 2011. OCAS AS receives an order to deliver their innovative radar solution to a wind farm in Central Europe.

-“It is a breakthrough for OCAS to win this deal, " says CEO Shahzad Abid of OCAS AS. “During the last months we have seen great interest for our solutions in several European countries, which are important focus markets for OCAS”

The undisclosed customer is based in Central Europe, and the OCAS delivery will be part of a repowering project, where the old turbines are replaced with taller and more efficient turbines, producing more energy. A world leading turbine manufacturer delivers the turbines.

“The OCAS solution should delight the local communities around the wind farm as it reduces the visual impact from the wind farm " said Abid.

OCAS (Obstacle Collision Avoidance System) is an innovative radar-based solution that eliminates light pollution and reduces the visual impact of wind farms on its neighbors and immediate environment. Using a highly sophisticated 3D radar, OCAS keeps the obstacle warning lights of wind turbines turned off, unless an aircraft is on a dangerous path towards the park. Wind developers benefit from using OCAS through shorter permitting time, increased energy production, easier acceptance by local communities, and increased probability for project realizations

OCAS has to date supplied radar systems to customers in Sweden, USA and Canada, in addition to several Norwegian installations.
