Pressmeddelande —
Sweden’s biggest developers conference, Øredev, turns 20 years old!
For publishing on 9 June
For 20 years, while technologies, companies and headlines have changed, Øredev has remained a place where developers from across Europe gather to learn, challenge ideas and look ahead. From November 4-6th, the conference will once again host 120+ international speakers in Malmö to share their knowledge on stage with 1200 attendees eager to understand where software development is headed. As developers rethink how they build, learn and lead, Øredev offers 10 tracks and more than 120 sessions to explore the future of the craft.
During the same two decades, Malmö and Skåne have grown into a region known for software, gaming, startups, life science, cleantech, foodtech, research and cross-border collaboration. What was once a story of post-industrial reinvention is now recognized as one of the Nordics’ most dynamic hubs for innovation, helping place the Öresund region firmly on the European tech map.
Each year, Øredev explores a new theme. In 2026, the theme is Legacy, inviting reflection on what endures after us: code, culture, mentorship and ideas. It also mirrors Malmö’s own transformation and asks the wider question: what do developers leave behind through the systems and communities they build?
Among the announced speakers is Emil Eifren, CEO of Neo4j returning to the Øredev stage. Joining him is Kim Arcand, visualization scientist and science communicator for NASA's Chandra X-ray Observatory at the Smithsonian Astrophysical Observatory. Also on the program is Clive Thompson, journalist and science and technology writer, who will expand on ideas explored in his The New York Times article, Coding After Coders: The End of Computer Programming as We Know it.
