OKQ8 and Siemens electrify the Swedish road network

OKQ8 is entering a long-term partnership with global infrastructure company Siemens to develop the infrastructure for charging electric cars, whereby Siemens will supply OKQ8’s filling stations with high-speed rechargers.

The agreement means that Siemens and OKQ8 will work jointly to develop and provide access to high-speed rechargers through OKQ8’s station network. The initiative is undertaken in preparation of a future growth in the electric car market, and to make it easier for current owners of electric cars to power their vehicles for longer stretches than previously possible.

-       OKQ8 has set a target that 12 per cent of our fuel mix should consist of renewable fuels by 2015. To achieve that we need to provide all types of renewable fuel alternatives. We will continue to extend the biogas net but will also invest in electricity as yet another alternative, says Andréa Haag, SHE Manager OKQ8 Sweden.

The first high speed rechargers already installed at OKQ8 Häggvik
At OKQ8’s first sustainable filling station at Häggvik in Stockholm, the first high speed rechargers from Siemens are already in operation.

-       Through our partnership with OKQ8 we are expanding the infrastructure with a joint commitment to a sustainable development. Siemens is very committed to renewable technology, within many different areas, and we are pleased that OKQ8 has taken such an active role in furthering the development, says Göran Persson, Sector Manager at Siemens.

The high-speed recharging provides a complement to the stations other fuels and to OKQ8’s other electricity related offerings.
