Paxymer selected into the top 10 by LAUNCH Nordic

We are pleased to announce that Paxymer AB has been selected as a LAUNCH Nordic Innovator 2015. LAUNCH Nordic is a global innovation platform tackling sustainability challenges.

LAUNCH Nordic was founded in collaboration with LAUNCH - a strategic partnership between NIKE, NASA, The U.S. Department of State, and The U.S. Agency for International Development (USAID) - to accelerate innovation in sustainable materials and how they are made. The core partners behind LAUNCH Nordic are Nordic companies IKEA, Novozymes, and Kvadrat, together with Nordic Government Institutions.

In 2015 LAUNCH Nordic received close to 100 innovations from 35 countries, covering six continents. All innovations represented ideas and solutions that answered the question: How can we - through new types of materials, or alternative ways of using known materials - significantly increase sustainability in production, manufacturing, and recycling?

Paxymer is an innovation within halogen-free flame retardants. It addresses the issue of functionally substituting endocrine disrupting, persistent and toxic halogenated flame retardants for more sustainable alternatives.

Paxymer AB has been selected among this year’s finalists and will be invited to participate in the LAUNCH Nordic Forum, where they will present their innovation Paxymer to an international panel of leaders from business, academia, and policy.

Paxymer AB offers a flame retardant system free of persistent, bioaccumulating and toxic substances (PBT and CMR). It achieves a safe burning process: low smoke, low heat release rate, low smoke toxicity and non-dripping. Paxymer is already in line with future legislation as well as current legislation such as REACH, SVHC, WEEE and RoHS. Paxymer also maintains recyclability and retains a high degree of the mechanical and processing properties of the base material - which facilitates a wider use of the solution. Paxymer currently holds the highest level of "Recommended" in BVB (Byggvarubedömningen) and has participated in several POPs elimination projects hosted by the Stockholm convention, UNEP and the Jegrelius institute.

Paxymer is an innovative swedish firm that challenges existing solutions in flame retardants. It is a spin-off from PP Polymer, a company that has almost 30 years of experience of environmentally and health conscious product development in the area of polymer technology.

Swedish SME gets seat at the table at Dioxin 2014

Paxymer participates in the Dioxin 2014 conference as a SME invite, one of 800 prominent participants. The objective of the conference is to accelerate substitution of halogenated persistent organic pollutants. The topic of halogen-free flame retardants are increasingly relevant due to recent prognosis of market growth of 7-9% until 2020.

3M’s new welding helmet in flame retardant PP from Paxymer

3M and Paxymer have developed a unique formulation for a new welding helmet together. The helmet was originally designed in polyamide but will now be run in a flame retarded polypropylene formulation from Paxymer that gives weight, cost and environmental benefits.

Paxymer “a big step closer to a sustainable society” states 3rd party audit

Patented halogen free flame retardant system for polyolefins Paxymer just scored excellent marks in an environmental assessment performed by Jegrelius the Institute for Applied Green Chemistry. After having been selected to participate in the unique project, the report addressing the chemical risks, environmental impact and a life cycle perspective strongly recommends Paxymer as a green solution.

Paxymer part of "The bigger picture"

"The bigger picture" is the newest report by Chemsec including a number of innovative companies such as ​Paxymer, Apple, Skanska and Organoclick. It looks at substitution through case studies. The report shows the true benefits and costs of substitution. The conclusion is clear: benefits outweigh the costs of new sustainable products.

Green flame retardant PP-fibre

A novel flame retardant technology for PP-fibres based on Swedish technology can see the light of day in the near future thanks to financing from Mistra Innovation. Scale up and commercialisation is next on the agenda.
