The Jacob's Creek Visitor Centre was awarded theSouth Australian of the Year in the Tourism category at the 2008 South Australian of the year awards announced at a gala dinner attended by thePremier andGovernor of South Australia.

The awards are sponsored by SA Great and the South Australian Government and recognise inspirational leaders within the state that have made a significant contribution to South Australia over the last 12 months. They can be awarded to individuals or organisations.

The Jacob's Creek Visitor Centre is a world class facility at the Southern end of the Barossa Valley. Built on the banks of Jacob's Creek on 6 ha it wasopened with environmentally sustainable principles in 2002. Over 200,000 domestic and International visitors visit the Centre each year to enjoy a great South Australian experience. As well as wine tasting the Jacob's Creek Visitor Centre also offers a full service restaurant, spacious grounds with native animal enclosure, demonstration vineyard and gallery.
