Real-Time I/O System to Address High Demands

Increasingly more applications are demanding shorter response times – especially in the machinery construction sector. In order to comply with these requirements for I/O communication in real time, Phoenix Contact is presenting the new Axioline real-time I/O system for control cabinets at the SPS/IPC/Drives 2009. Using Axioline, response times of less than 1 ms can be achieved thanks to an offset of only 1 µs per I/O module. In this case, the higher-level network exclusively defines the system speed.

The I/O system is simple to handle: It has the PIT direct connector system for wiring without tools, which Phoenix Contact already uses in its Clipline terminal block system. Outlets at both sides of the station ensure transparent cabling in the control cabinet. An integrated I/O tester reads in the station via a USB interface without requiring an additional network or additional control and tests the inputs and outputs. The station can be transparently and clearly labeled using the Bluemark high-speed printer from Phoenix Contact.

The real-time I/O system sets itself apart due to its robust mechanical design and EMC, is tested for continuous shock, and has a wide temperature range. Thanks to its low radiation, it is certified for residential areas and office environments.

The system with an IP20 protection is open for all Ethernet-based communication protocols and is optimized for Profinet. It supplements the two Inline Modular and Inline Block IO systems from Phoenix Contact.
