Press release —
PO.P adopts science-based climate targets validated by the Science Based Targets initiative (SBTi)
Polarn O. Pyret AB (PO.P) has adopted science-based targets for reducing greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions across its value chain. The targets have been validated by the Science Based Targets initiative (SBTi), providing a clear framework for reducing GHG emissions and support PO.P’s continued climate action.
PO.P has set a science-based target to achieve net-zero GHG emissions across its value chain by 2045. The target is supported by near-term and long-term targets for reducing absolute GHG emissions across PO.P’s operations and value chain.
For the near term, PO.P commits to reduce absolute Scope 1 and 2 GHG emissions by 66.3% by 2035 from a 2024 base year. PO.P also commits to reduce absolute Scope 3 GHG emissions by 47.1% within the same timeframe.
For the long term, PO.P commits to reduce absolute Scope 1 and 2 GHG emissions by 90.0% by 2045 from a 2024 base year, and to reduce absolute Scope 3 GHG emissions by 90.0% within the same timeframe.
The targets form part of PO.P’s broader sustainability strategy and will guide the company’s climate action in the coming years. These actions include increased use of renewable energy and improved energy efficiency within PO.P’s own operations and supply chain, as well as optimisation of the store portfolio. PO.P will report progress towards its science-based targets annually.*
*The target boundary includes land-related emissions and removals from biogenic feedstocks.
