POSSIO ANNOUNCE LENA GSM VOICE CONNECTOR AND A NEW MODULAR APPROACH TO FIXED MOBILE PHONES

Barcelona, February 16, 2009 The wireless innovator Possio today announce LENA GSM Voice Connector, their first product supporting Possio's new modular DCA architecture for fixed GSM phones. 

The fixed mobile phone market is growing rapidly both in business and home. The business market is primarily growing with the "one phone office" trend from the Nordics and beyond, but there are also problems to be resolved in temporary offices and construction sites. The consumer market grows from development countries with shortage of wires to the developed countries where people want to save installation and subscription fees. 

"Since it happens from market to market, operator by operator and across cultures and trends, the previous one-size-fits-all approach with big black complicated qwerty-phones wasn't the right approach", says Ralf Wittig, head of products at Possio. "People asked for a phone and got a small computer with SMS which caused resistance to pay even the manufacturing cost", continues Mr Wittig. 

In order to meet customer and operator needs better, Possio developed their modular DCA architecture which in essence separate the GSM support from the handset. "We always try to find relevant easy to use solutions to real life problems and with DCA we give operators a standardized high quality device to manage in their networks and the user the ability to pick any phone they like", says Magnus Melander, Marketing Director, Possio. "Our industry is still driven by technical ability and not customer requirements which explains why fixed GSM phones traditionally has SMS capability" continues Mr Melander. 

Possio today announces its first Voice connector, LENA GSM Voice Connector which is estimated to be generally available in April 2009. LENA is a small wall mounted connector with support for local and remote programming. She has a stilo antenna included and support for external antenna for situations where coverage is poor. Users can connect any traditional fixed line phone to LENA and start making calls without any training or support. The expected European retail price is 150 ex VAT. 

"With LENA we allow mobile operators to be creative towards the customers while the modularity gives advantages in deployment, training, support, serviceability and over all profitability", concludes Mr Wittig.
