GENERATION ZERO®: Announcing Avalanche Studios’ Next Open-World Action Game

STOCKHOLM, JUNE 7, 2018 – Today, Avalanche Studios announced Generation Zero – an open-world action game set in 1980’s Sweden, where hostile machines have invaded the serene countryside. Now you need to fight back!

Go it alone, or team up with up to three friends in seamless co-op multiplayer. By utilizing battle tested guerilla tactics, you’ll be able to lure, cripple, or destroy enemies in intense, creative sandbox skirmishes.

Developed and published by Avalanche Studios, Generation Zero will be released in 2019 for Xbox One, PlayStation 4® and Windows PC. The Reveal Trailer is available now, and the game will be shown to select media outlets behind closed doors at E3. Learn more about the game at www.generationzero.com.

– Generation Zero is a true passion project, said Emil Kraftling, Game Director at Avalanche Studios. In a sense, it’s an ominous recreation of our childhood fantasies, playing war in the serene forests of 1980’s Sweden. We can’t wait to bring the game’s tense open-world exploration and adrenaline pumping tactical action to players everywhere.

– This is the first action game under our own publishing label, added Christofer Sundberg, Chief Creative Officer and Co-founder of Avalanche Studios. Generation Zero is built by a small but experienced “triple indie” team with a lot of creative freedom. It marries the stealth and tactics of our self-published hunting games with the explosive, emergent nature of our publisher-backed AAA games in really unique way. To me, it marks an exciting new chapter for Avalanche Studios as a publisher.

GENERATION ZERO - KEY FEATURES

1980’s Nostalgia. Cutting Edge Visuals.
Explore a vast open world, rendered with the proprietary Apex engine, featuring a full day/night cycle with unpredictable weather, complex AI behavior, simulated ballistics, highly realistic acoustics and a dynamic 1980’s soundtrack.

Get Ready. Then Fight Back.
All enemies are persistently simulated in the world, and roam the landscape with intent and purpose. By tactically combining weapons, skills and equipment, you’ll be able to lure, cripple, and destroy your enemies. If you manage to destroy a specific enemy component, be it armor, weapons or sensory equipment, the damage is permanent. Enemies will bear those scars until you face them again, whether that is minutes, hours or weeks later.

1-4 Player Seamless Multiplayer.
Go it alone, or team-up with up to three of your friends in seamless co-op multiplayer. Do anything in your power to level the playing field; scavenge for weapons and equipment, set traps and use the environment to your advantage in intense sandbox combat. Collaborate and combine your unique skills to take down enemies, support downed friends by reviving them, and share the loot after an enemy is defeated. In Generation Zero, living is winning.
