Nordic gaming festival Nordsken to host first ever Women’s Esports League finals

Women’s Esports League (a European esports league for women) was launched by the non-profit organization Female Legends in collaboration with esports platform Challengermode during the end of 2018. The competition is played in the games League of Legends and Counter-Strike: Global Offensive. The first Season started in February of 2019 and is set to be completed during the middle of May. So far a total of 74 all-female esports teams from multiple European countries have competed online at www.challengermode.com to be crowned the best European Female CS:GO or LoL team.

Challengermode and Female Legends together with Nordsken are now happy to announce that the 2 finalists in each game will travel to the Nordsken game festival in Skelleftå, May 30th - June 1st, 2019, to compete in front of a live audience and for the title of WEL Season 1 Champions along with their part of the €5000 prize pool. Sponsoring WEL is OMEN by HP, Mionix and Boliden.

Nordsken is a gathering for everyone who is interested in games, whether it is esports or single-player adventures, culture and creativity, which makes Nordsken the optimal partner for WEL to host its first ever live event and final.

The WEL Finals, starting on the 1st of June, we’ll see the finalists in both games compete on-stage in a best-of-3 match that will also be broadcast live via Female Legend’s Twitch channel (www.twitch.tv/femalelegends). More information regarding the casting talent that will be delivering this amazing experience to the audience will be announced shortly.

Women's Esports League is a collaboration by the non-profit organization Female Legends and the esport platform Challengermode created to provide girl gamers a chance to compete and socialize in an environment free from hate and toxicity, where everyone can compete on equal terms. The ultimate goal of the initiative is that the League itself won’t be needed in the future.

The next season of WEL will be officially announced in June and is set to start in September 2019.
