Götessons furniture – an important player in table tennis world championships

On Sunday 29 April the World Team Table Tennis Championships will start in Halmstad. Together with its subsidiary AM Acoustics, Götessons has become a major sponsor and is constructing the setting for the event – one of Sweden’s biggest international sporting events this year. “Prior to the tournament we have put a lot of effort into constructing a modern, open and welcoming setting, with a focus on design and functionality,” says Johan Götesson, Creative Director at Götessons Industri AB.

Götessons AB, which is the market leader in holistic solutions for offices and public environments, has moved out of the office and into the sports arena. Prior to the World Team Table Tennis Championships, the company is constructing everything from warm-up zones to lounges and press boxes. Visitors, players and press from around the world can expect a modern arena setting with a Scandinavian spirit. Johan Götesson is looking forward to the joint venture. “This is the biggest sporting event in Sweden for many years, and we feel incredibly honoured to be involved in constructing the setting for the tournament,” says Johan.

Johan has spent a lot of time in various sports halls over the years, and has come across numerous challenges regarding acoustics, so the company has developed products with innovative acoustic solutions to moderate the sound levels. In 2015 Götessons acquired the company AM Acoustics in Falkenberg in order to broaden its expertise and be able to offer its customers the best possible result when it comes to a good sound environment. “Our challenge is not just to create modern products with an attractive, contemporary design; we also aim to create ergonomic solutions and products that promote health. Health fits in really well with the sports event theme; it also feels good to be able to contribute attractive and trendy lounge environments”, says Johan.

Scandinavian design in the international arena

Mikael Andersson, who is one of the organisers of the World Team Table Tennis Championships, thinks that the functionality of Götessons furniture will add an innovative touch that seems exactly right for this international sports venue. “As organisers we have the motto ‘Welcome to the next level’, and Götessons lives up to that. So the company seemed like an obvious partner when we were looking for someone to do the interiors. It also feels particularly good to be able to show off Scandinavian design at a global event like this,” says technical director Mikael.

Götessons are also involved in a TV programme that will be shown on both Swedish and German TV. The company has constructed sets for a series based on Kristina Ohlsson’s crime novels about criminologist Fredrika Bergman. 2.2 million copies of the books have been sold in 27 different countries. If we return to the world of sport, Götessons have also installed acoustic panels in Zlatan Ibrahimović’s newly-opened Padel Zenter in Årsta.

Götessons Industri AB
Götessons Industri AB was established in Dalstorp but moved to a brand new property in Ulricehamn in May 2015. The same year, this property was named Sweden’s third most attractive office. Götessons develops and manufactures products for office, conference and hotel workplaces. With Europe as its main market, Götessons can be relied upon to provide ergonomic, functional and well-designed holistic solutions for its customers. In 2015 Götessons purchased AM Acoustics in Falkenberg AB in order to further raise its expertise in all aspects of spatial acoustics.
