Stockholm based MediaTech start-up “Playpilot” reaches 1M+ unique monthly users and adds Disney alum to its Advisor lineup

Playpilot has broken through the 1M monthly user threshold with their streaming aggregator that lets users find the best movies and shows across all streaming services. While much of the growth can be attributed to the company’s relentless focus on user-experience, it has been boosted by the launch of many new streaming services as well as increased viewing due to more time spent at home because of Corona. To help support the company in this expansive phase, Casper Bjørner, the former CEO for The Walt Disney Company Nordics, joins the Stockholm media tech start-up Playpilot as Advisor to the Board.

Casper, who has been helping us with lots of insights over the last year - is a dream addition to the team as we embark on this next phase, especially considering our recent expansion into more than 20 new countries,including the US, India, Argentina and many more in addition to the Nordics. With more than 30 years in the global entertainment industry, he will help us navigate and make the right connections as we embark on this journey - we want to take on the world, Scandinavia first and then like true vikings we are going abroad to conquer” says David, CEO of Playpilot.

Casper started his career at Nordisk Film in Denmark, then SBS Broadcasting (now Discovery Networks) and finally joined Disney in Stockholm between 2003-2019. After 16 years - the last 10 years as Disney's local CEO for the Nordic region - Casper has garnered extensive experience from the broadcast TV, streaming and film industry. His unique understanding of the emerging business landscape, going from traditional media to digital households, will provide invaluable guidelines for a start-up player such as Playpilot to navigate the growing streaming sector efficiently.

During the last six months Playpilot has experienced a huge volume increase and reached 1M+ users, which is 5x from 2019.
