Green Connections Conference Features Katarina Veem from the Stockholm International Water Institute, home of the Prestigious Stockholm Water Prize

The 6th annual Green Connections Conference to focus on Smart Water and Renewable Energy solutions

September 25, 2017, SAN DIEGO – The Swedish American Chamber of Commerce San Diego (SACC SD) and The Finnish American Chamber of Commerce San Diego (FACC SD) today announced that the keynote speaker for the 6th annual Green Connections Conference will be Katarina Veem from the Swedish International Water Institute (SIWI), home of the prestigious water award, the Stockholm Water Prize. The 2017 laureate was California professor Stephen McCaffrey from the University of the Pacific McGeorge School of Law in Sacramento.

The Green Connections Conference brings together scientists, visionaries, experts, investors, and decision makers from the Southern California and Nordic regions, to share and exchange knowledge, ideas, and technologies within smart water and renewable energy. The conference is designed to foster partnerships to reduce the carbon footprint on the planet, while creating sustainable business opportunities.

We are pleased to bring Katarina and other Nordic companies to our conference to create a dialog and environment where we can work together to share ideas for a better future.”

Katarina Veem has a long career within environment and sustainable resource policy from civil society, as well as public and private sectors. She began her professional career at the Royal Swedish Academy of Sciences in Stockholm and has an MA from Harvard University. In her current role at SIWI, Katarina leads the work of the Swedish Water House, stimulating dialogue to raise awareness and collaboration to address water related global challenges. SIWI is also the home of the world’s most prestigious water award, the Stockholm Water Prize. The prize is given out at Stockholm City Hall by His Majesty Carl XVI Gustaf, King of Sweden, who is the official patron of the prize.

Attending the conference will be a Nordic Trade Mission consisting of six Swedish and six Finnish companies who have developed smart water or renewable energy solutions. Some of the companies include:

  • Aqua-Q, a Swedish cleantech applied-research company and winner of the world’s most prestigious environmental award, the National Energy Globe Award 2017 for AQUATRACKS®. AQUATRACKS is an early warning system for pathogens & ozone polishing for the elimination of pharmaceutical residues and pathogens at the same time.
  • Cleantech Invest, a Finnish investment company focusing on investments in renewable solutions.

The 6th annual Green Connections Conference will be held on November 16, 2017 at the SDG&E Energy Innovation Center in San Diego.
