Idag firas Östersjödagen i 6 länder och 27 städer

Idag, den 26 August, är det Östersjödagen. Dagen lanserades 2019 av John Nurminen Foundation för att fira Östersjöns unika natur och kultur. Olika organisationer i 6 olika länder och 27 städer runt om Östersjön firar dagen genom att arrangera olika evenemang och aktiviteter.

Ett 30-tal företag och organisationer från offentlig sektor, ideella organisationer och näringsliv går samman och uppmärksammar Östersjön under en gemensam Östersjödag den 26 augusti. Genom seminarier, rundabordssamtal, skräpdyk, konserter och mycket mer önskar man öka förståelsen och medvetenheten om vårt gemensamma havs unika och varierande natur och kulturarv, men även för de miljöutmaningar

Östersjön är ett unikt hav, men det är också ett av världens mest förorenade hav. Många är de utmaningar som hotar havets flora och fauna, och vi är många som samsas kring de tjänster havet erbjuder. För att uppmärksamma dessa frågor – men även alla de positiva värden vårt hav ger oss – lanseras nu Östersjödagen, en årligen återkommande dag för att sätta Östersjön på agendan.

Levande Kust – levande hästnäring

För att få veta mer om hästhållning och hur den påverkar övergödningen har Race For The Baltic träffat Linda Kumblad och Emil Rydin, forskare och projektledare för projektet Levande Kust. Emil och Linda har studerat människans påverkan på havet i över 20 år, ofta med fokus på övergödningen i kustmiljö.

Two of our business managers went for a study tour in Skåne coastal areas. A brief visit in Åhus port to see the process of a fertilizer ship discharge. Moreover, a fruitful meeting in Kristianstad with Jan Persson from Krinova on the Water Innovation System Amplifier (WISA Project). Our local governments are key actors in the implementation of measures needed to ensure a healthy Baltic Sea. Therefore, we are grateful for the engagement of participating municipalities in the Baltic Sea City Accelerator Club – and we are looking forward to our upcoming Club meeting on the 26-28th of April. Has your municipality not registered yet? No worries – the deadline for registration is on April 1st. The Baltic Sea City Accelerator Club is a collaboration with The Baltic Sea Challenge of the Cities Helsinki and Turku. Braxentaco-fredag! Beståndet av braxen växer i flera svenska sjöar, men nu kan dom också dyka upp allt oftare på våra matbord! För att få klarare vatten och en bättre biologisk balans så bedriver Biosfärkontoret i Kristianstad reduktionsfiske i Råbelövssjön och Oppmannasjön. Idag används fångsten till biogasproduktion, men biosfärområdet Kristianstads Vattenrike lyfter att braxen också kan ses som en proteinkälla. I projektet “Dags för brax” samarbetar ett flertal aktörer för att stärka braxens lokala och miljövänliga värden. Bland annat genom att hitta nya tillagningsmetoder och smaker, kolla in artikeln och hitta kvällens recept till Tacos med pankofriterad braxen 😋👇

BSSC is an exhibition about the Baltic Sea and reflects life in the sea, human impact, and future solutions.
