Merlina’s family is one of 25 families residing in a housing site in Tanay, Rizal. They regularly face a lack of electricity and water.
Merlina has three children, Timothy, 6, Feliza, 5, and a three month old, Aldrin Jr. They also live with her sister Martina, 30, who has a mental disability.
Aldrin, Merlina’s husband is a construction worker but because of the quarantine in the community due to coronavirus, his work has been stopped leaving the family without any source of income for the duration of the lockdown.
Neither Timothy or Feliza are able to talk so Merlina worries about their development.
Save the Children provided the family with a hygiene kit, food packs and child-friendly learning materials.
In response to the COVID-19 and the quarantine /lockdown imposed, Save the Children Philippines have distributed to food packs, family hygiene kits and child-friendly IEC materials.
