Johan Hansson returns to Roxen

Roxen is strengthening its focus on the Americas as media executive Johan Hansson returns to the company in a Senior Advisor role. Based in the US, Hansson will support Roxen’s continued expansion in the region and work closely with customers and industry leaders as demand for the company’s print automation platform grows.

Media companies adapting to profound changes in how news is consumed and monetized face the dual challenge of protecting revenues while reducing costs. Strong print and e-paper products remain important for building brands, maintaining reader relationships and providing a foundation for digital subscription revenues. At the same time, pressure to reduce production costs is driving demand for more streamlined production, allowing publishers to focus resources on journalism while maintaining editorial flexibility and control.

Roxen is well positioned to address these priorities. Drawing on decades of experience from the highly innovative Scandinavian media market, Roxen’s Print Automation Platform enables publishers to significantly reduce manual production while keeping editors in control of editorial priorities, layouts and late changes.

Roxen has expanded its presence across the Americas in recent years, working with some of the industry’s most recognized names. Growing demand is now driving the next phase of the company’s international expansion.

Johan Hansson is returning to Roxen after nine years as CEO of Stampen Media, one of Sweden’s leading news media groups. During his tenure, Stampen Media underwent an extensive transformation, combining strong local news brands with growing digital revenues and continued development of its digital, print and e-edition products. Before joining Stampen Media in 2017, Hansson served as EVP Americas at Roxen. His career also includes senior media positions in the US and Asia.

– It is fantastic to welcome Johan back to Roxen. Having spent nearly a decade leading a major Scandinavian media group, he brings an even deeper understanding of the forces shaping our industry. He knows Roxen well, has kept up with what we have been doing and will contribute from day one. His return strengthens our presence in a strategically important market while giving us room to grow in Europe and other parts of the world, says Per Östlund, CEO of Roxen.

Roxen’s Print Automation Platform is used by leading news media organizations across the Americas, with customers in the US, Canada, Costa Rica and Argentina. The Washington Post and Quebecor are among the latest to choose Roxen.

– It has been exciting to follow Roxen’s progress over the years. Newsrooms are looking for ways to make print and e-edition production significantly more efficient without compromising quality and flexibility. That’s where Roxen’s technology makes a real difference. I look forward to reconnecting with many people across the industry and contributing to Roxen’s continued growth in the Americas, says Johan Hansson, Senior Advisor.
