Press release -

Who says silos cannot be broken? 47 cities, a total of 133 organisations, in the Västra Götaland Region collectively enable step-change delivery improvements.

Sensative AB awarded breakthrough platform win through standards-led solution.

Sensative, a leading provider of innovative IoT solutions, has been awarded the tender to provide its IoT platform, Yggio, across the Västra Götaland region.

This award will enable the 47 cities of the region and its 86 additional participating organisations to utilise Sensative's platform for a broad range of smart city, digitalization, and data-sharing applications.

47 cities, 30 real estate companies, 22 energy companies, 3 water operators and more will participate.

Quite possibly this is a Nordic, if not global, record for a progressive decision.

Following a competitive tender process, Sensative was selected for providing the most advantageous solution for the region. Yggio will serve as a region-wide, horizontal platform for IoT, digital transformation, and data sharing. The platform will be delivered as a Platform-as-a-Service (PaaS) solution, along with consulting services, to ensure Västra Götaland has the best possible foundation for digitising, automating, analysing, and creating a data-driven operation.

“We are excited to have been awarded this procurement and look forward to working with Västra Götaland,” said [insert regional representative]. “The implementation of Sensative’s Yggio platform will empower our organisations to collect, analyse, and act on data in real-time, improving service delivery and the quality of life for our citizens.”

Mats Pettersson, CTO of Sensative, commented, “Västra Götaland is on the front foot, empowering its cities and organisations to collaborate, innovate, and deliver exceptional value to their stakeholders. These enlightened organisations will be able to utilise seamless data integration from a vast array of IoT devices, to drive efficiency and innovation across multiple sectors.”

Potential Use Cases and Opportunities with Sensative’s Yggio Platform

The Yggio platform offers a wide range of possibilities for improving operations and services across the Västra Götaland region. Some of the potential applications include:

  • Smart City Applications: The platform could be used to optimise urban infrastructure management, such as street lighting, traffic management, and parking systems, by providing real-time data insights to streamline operations.
  • Property Optimization: Yggio can be utilised to optimise the management of buildings by reducing energy consumption, improving space utilisation, ensuring the right temperature and air quality, and collecting CSRD (Corporate Sustainability Reporting Directive) data in real-time. This enables organisations to operate more sustainably and efficiently while maintaining healthy and comfortable environments.
  • Energy Efficiency and Utilities: The platform could assist in optimising smart grids and monitoring utilities such as electricity and water, promoting energy savings and operational efficiency across both public and private facilities.
  • Environmental Monitoring: Yggio may enable monitoring of air and water quality, detection of forest fires, and soil condition tracking for agriculture, helping to enhance environmental safety and sustainability.
  • Asset Tracking: Yggio can be leveraged for real-time asset tracking in environments such as airports, hospitals, and workplaces. This functionality allows organisations to monitor and manage equipment, vehicles, and other critical assets, ensuring better resource allocation, reducing losses, and improving operational efficiency.
  • Public Safety and Emergency Response: The platform has the potential to support public safety initiatives, including crime prevention, disaster response, and emergency coordination.
  • Healthcare and Social Services: Yggio could enhance healthcare outcomes through remote patient monitoring and elderly care support, allowing organisations to leverage data-driven insights for improved service delivery.

Sensative’s Yggio platform has already been deployed in several major projects, including Stockholm’s smart city initiative, and this latest award further solidifies Sensative’s position as a leader in IoT solutions for smart cities.

"In an increasingly fragmented world, our technology fosters collective learning and adaptation, contributing to a more cohesive society.” said Johan Frilund, CEO of Sensative. “We are delighted to bring our constructive solutions to the market.”
