Pressmeddelande -

Dimpker Brothers, DULL, Nathan Aeli and Sötnos are ready for The Great Escape 2023!

The new music showcase festival, The Great Escape, takes place in Brighton May 10-13th and is one of Europe's most important meeting places for the international music industry to see the most exciting new acts. This year, several Swedish bands and artists are booked for the festival.

“May in Brighton, lots of great bands, play rock shows and hopefully meet new partners in rock. We’re excited to bring our mix of indie, punk and Scandinavian screaming guitars to the UK for the first time,” says Canan Rosén, who plays in the band DULL.

In addition to DULL (indie/punk/rock) from Stockholm, it is now confirmed that the duo of brothers, Dimpker Brothers, (Americana) from Hulta, the artist Nathan Aeli (drone/industrial/trip-hop/art pop) from Gothenburg and the band Sötnos (pop/grunge) from Stockholm are also booked for the festival. The artists will perform several gigs during the festival, including one on the ‘ÅÄÖ... Sounds Swedish’ stage.

‘ÅÄÖ... Sounds Swedish’ is a meeting place that highlights Swedish music in an international context. Here, festival visitors have the opportunity to experience live gigs in an exciting mix of genres, to meet the artists that are making the music and the various Swedish industry personnel that will be attending this year. Behind this initiative are Talentcoach, Sensus studieförbund, Westside Music Sweden, ALOADED and SOM (Svenska Oberoende Musikproducenter), the Swedish equivalent of AIM.

Again at this year's event in Brighton, as in previous years, the organizations invite you to a mingle on Thursday evening at Kooks from 5.30pm. where you can come and meet your next new favourite Swede! Get your tickets now.

“Through the initiative, Swedish bands and artists get the chance to perform on an international stage, make new contacts, gain a deeper understanding of other countries' musical life and broaden their audience. In talks and workshops, the acts also receive support in the preparatory work in order to have as good an impact as possible and to be able to work strategically in what they want to achieve,” says Linnéa Jonsson at Sensus studieförbund.

There is a great interest in Swedish music in this year's edition of The Great Escape. In addition to the stage ‘ÅÄÖ... Sounds Swedish’, several Swedish bands and artists are booked for the festival, such as Girlscout, Hannes, Deki Alem and 7ebra to name a few.

About the acts:

  • The Dimpker Brothers Martin and Adam Dimpker are from the woods of Hulta By in Småland, Sweden, and join a tradition that has deep roots within American music. Two brothers singing together creating a magical synthesis.

The brothers recently got back to Sweden from touring the United States and are currently working on the follow-up to their debut album ”Deathless” which was released in 2022.

  • DULL was kicking off 2023 in style, Stockholm indie/punk/noise rockers DULL released their debut LP in February on Startracks records. Startracks has a track record of much success with their bands and DULL won't be the exception. DULL is for fans of Pretty girls make graves, Sonic Youth and Bully. With two screaming guitars, double lead-vocalists Canan and Louise fronts the band with confidence and power rarely seen.

The quartet from Stockholm is no stranger to the Swedish rock and punk scene with members from, among others, Twin Pigs, Tiger Bell and Dead Vibrations. During spring 2023 they will be touring around Sweden until they set sail for Brighton! Then awaits, well yeah, probably the rest of the world. Come enjoy DULL music.

  • Nathan Aeli is a Gothenburg-based multi-artist, graphic designer and soft drink fanatic who loves artsy horror movies. ‘Swan Exit Dive Soundtrack’ was produced and recorded by the artist together with Anders Lagerfors at Nacksving Studios in Gothenburg, Sweden.

  • Sötnos is a new indie pop/grunge duo with tasteful references from the ’90s. Musically, they move between The Prodigy and Elliot Smith - while retaining the sonic clarity of the 2020’s. Fine-tuned vocals and acoustic guitar alternates with scream-rap, fuzzed out electric guitars and drum machines, so that you never know what’s to come.

The duo consists of the producers Albin Eidhagen and Tore Bojsten from Stockholm. The two cuties may seem harmless but with their quick wits, unfiltered humor and unpredictable lyrics - they are ready to be an acknowledged name on the indie scene. Sötnos is 100% self made. The music is solely produced by the duo's band members down to every last detail.

Sötnos roughly translates to ‘cutie pie’, and is pronounced sœ:t.n:ous
