THINGS initiated successful Industry 4.0 project between ASSA ABLOY and MTEK Industry

Stockholm October 8 2020, The Deep tech hub THINGS in Stockholm proudly announces a successful collaboration in the area of Industry 4.0 between its member companies ASSA ABLOY Group and MTEK Industry AB, initiated at THINGS.

During one of many Executive Briefings at THINGS, representatives from ASSA ABLOY Group, one of the Main Partners at THINGS, were presented an innovative digital assembly case by THINGS member MTEK.

This first presentation resulted in a pre-study and implementation of automation and digitalization in the lock cylinder assembly process at ASSA ABLOY’s factory in Eskilstuna, based on MTEK’s adaptive automation solution MCell. The solution has recently been put into commercial operations.

Mikael Nylander, Operations Manager at ASSA ABLOY’s Eskilstuna factory comments on the joint collaboration and the value with the adaptive automation cell: “This assembly cell is a first important step on our digitalization and automation journey, towards the Factory of the Future”.

“The opportunity to implement our adaptive automation cell in a Small Parts Assembly application at ASSA ABLOY was a very important moment for our company" said Mattias Andersson, founder and CEO of MTEK Industry. ”We are happy to be part of the large Swedish and International ecosystem of companies at THINGS, which is a great setting to meet relevant industry players.", Mr Andersson continues.

”We started THINGS six years ago to learn how to transform innovation in small companies to value creation in large through collaboration, and this is a wonderful example of what happens when we get it right”, says Magnus Melander, co-founder and evangelist at THINGS. ”The secret sauce is to work with corporate-ready young tech companies as MTEK and forward-leaning corporates, such as ASSA ABLOY”, concludes Melander.
