A Formex full of inspiration

An international vacation paradise, a bride for her times and insight in the shape of design to come. This and much more is for the visitors to see at Formex, 20-23 January, 2011, in some of the inspirational exhibits offered by the exhibition.

Glorious Mix – Shine & Dine
Creative Force, Elin Wallén and Jarmo Toivonen have again been selected to give shape to the seminar, exhibition and buffet surface at Formex, named Glorious Mix—Shine & Dine for 2011.  On the theme of spring, they have created a glamorous, sensuous feeling, tasting of jet set—a longing for sun-kissed skin and lovely pool parties.

“Imagine the surf, beach shells, palm leaves gently waving in the breeze—the sun's golden sparkle reflects in the sea's azure shades. Warm winds along the promenade, beautiful clothes and magnificent jewelry glimmering in the sunset. Laughter and music floats by from a cocktail party. The visitors should get the impression of an international vacation paradise,” says Elin Wallén at Creative Force

Creative Force works with creative sales environments and product presentations, focusing on fashion and interior design.

Gloria – a bride for her times
Hedvig Westermark, goldsmith and jewelry artist and Mia Ögren, costume designer, have made a recycling-themed art installation. The original idea was to jointly create a bridal dress exclusively from garbage; containers, refuse, attics, leftovers from previous productions. The result was a unique dress, featuring accessories such as a tiara, a dog and bags.

“We have worked like a study circle, meeting once a week, dragging along various materials and spoils from garbage bins or attics. In this project, we have been able to leave behind and see through the usual demands for perfection and let the sheer joy of creation drive us,” Hedvig Westermark says.

The entire process has been documented in a book, which will be available at the exhibit.

The installation has previously been on display at Konsthantverkarna Södermalmstorg and at the Museum of Architecture, Handicraft Salon 2010 in Stockholm.

The school exhibition from the Furniture Kingdom
The Furniture Kingdom in county Småland is a trade region for furniture and design, as well as a network for design and furniture companies in the dark forests of county Småland. At Formex, they display design projects for primary, secondary and tertiary education.

“The school exhibition tells us how tomorrow's design and designers are shaped. It also shows the roots of design from county Småland,” says Anders Wisth at the Furniture Kingdom.

Formex takes place at Stockholmsmässan. Formex is the meeting place for news, business, trends, knowledge and inspiration. The exhibition is arranged twice annually with 850 visitors, 25,000 professional visitors and 800 representatives of the media.
