News from Stöten in Sälen winter 23/24

Stöten Ski Lodge Soltorget opens now

Stöten in Sälen has many novelties this year, including the new Ski Lodge at Soltorget.

Sälen's award-winning ski resort Stöten is getting ready for another season on the skies. As usual, Stöten offers great winter news: new family-friendly slopes, new accommodation options, delicious new dining experiences and more challenges for adventurers and skiers of all ages. The biggest news of the year is Stöten Ski Lodge Soltorget.

- This year, Stöten in Sälen is introducing several exciting new offerings. The greatest is the new Ski Lodge - our biggest single investment ever! Stöten Ski Lodge Soltorget will, because of its unique location in the middle of the slopes, contribute enormously to the guests' overall skiing experience, says Johan Thorn, CEO. director of Stöten i Sälen AB.

In the last couple of years, Sälen's northernmost ski resort, Stöten, has developed its attractions. Millions of kronor have been invested in new snow systems, lifts, slopes, accommodations, restaurants, and other service offerings. This is the reason why Stöten has continued to grow and has been able to meet the increasing number of guests every year. This has also contributed to the fact that guests come back year after year, and to Stöten receiving some of Ski Sweden's best awards, e.g. the award for the year's best slope for the Älvan slope, which has the greatest drop height in the mountains of Sälen.

Stöten in Sälen opens the season on December 14th and presents many novelties for the coming winter. The largest news is undoubtedly the Stöten Ski Lodge Soltorget, costing SEK 250 million, the greatest investment in Stöten to date.

Comfortable accommodation close to everything

Stöten Ski Lodge Soltorget has a strategic and unique location in the middle of the slopes, by the central Soltorget that connects Stöten's slopes. Stöten Ski Lodge Soltorget has everything you could wish for, for a perfect skiing holiday. An inviting lounge welcomes you with a warming and atmospheric fireplace and around 50 seats. Just next to the lounge, you will find the large and well-stocked bar, which offers a broad selection of drinks and different types of snacks.

In the building, there is a ski shop with a ski rental and a relaxation area. There are children's play areas and activities for younger guests to enjoy the holiday with their families. And last, but not least, tasty dining experiences are offered with both lunch and an à la carte restaurant.

- Stöten ranks among the top ski destinations in Sälen, evident from its ever-growing popularity. We are excited to welcome our guests back to Stöten again this winter, where we provide everything needed for a comfortable and relaxing ski vacation, says Johan Thorn, managing director of Stöten in Sälen AB.

Stöten Ski Lodge Soltorget contains a total of 49 apartments, available in different sizes, ranging from 47 square meters up to 110 square meters. Perfect for couples, families, groups of friends or conference companies.

More accommodation news

At the start of the season, all mountain apartments in the Dalaviste and Fjällvyn Ranchen areas will also be ready for rent.

Dalaviste is an exclusive housing option with magnificent views over the mountains and a ski-in/ski-out location. An accommodation novelty for the quality-conscious guest with high standards for their accommodation. The materials used are of high quality, and all apartments have windows from floor to ceiling. All accommodations in Dalaviste also have generously large balconies and terraces in the southwest direction.

New accommodation is also available in Fjällvyn Ranchen. Here we are talking about architect-designed semi-detached houses with 10 sleeping places, built in carefully selected materials, where the focus has been on bringing out the feeling of a log house in the apartments. The well-furnished and open floor plan is suitable for family and friends.

Soltorget will have room for more

As part of building the new Ski Lodge, the square Soltorget underwent a significant renovation. The already popular family spot is now bigger, as the area has been significantly expanded, giving more room for skiers to sit, rest, and enjoy fresh mountain air.

More delicious restaurant news

Former Stöten guests will note that the building, which formerly housed the Jaktstugan on Soltorget, has now made way for the new Ski Lodge. But you can always get a good burger if you go to Stötentorget and Vattufjäll, where a new burger restaurant is opening. In addition to burgers, a variety of wraps, salads and sausage menus are served.

Stöten's new Ski Lodge offers a unique culinary experience at the mountain bistro. Their à la carte restaurant serves expertly prepared classics like Wallenbergare, Bouef Rydberg, moules frites, Skagen toast, and bouillabaisse, all made with high-quality ingredients and a passion for food.

Get there

Guest will never have to worry about parking options if they choose to steer the car towards Stöten. There is more than enough room for all guests, who travel by car. For electric car owners, there is good news with more charging stations at Stötentorget. All parking in Stöten is of course free.

Guest who prefers to fly, Sälen Airport is only 15 minutes from Stöten. There are international flights from Copenhagen, Groningen, Amsterdam, Lubeck, and London Gatwick.

New slopes for more skiing

There is also nice news about the skiing of Stöten. The major news item is Familjebacken. Here, the whole family, young and old, can enjoy a wide, comfy blue slope with a view of the snow-covered mountains. Familjebacken is a must-try, regardless of whether you ride in company with the youngest in the group, or if you just want to enjoy cruising down with a great view of the mountains.

Familjebacken was created by widening the former slope road down to the Granen slope, and thus it becomes a slope instead of a transport lane. To top it all off, the slope is also lit all the way down to Soltorget and can be used on the days when morning and evening skiing is offered. Familiebacken can be reached with Stötentorget's WC Express chairlift and the slope goes all the way down to Soltorget or Stötentorget.

More challenges for training and fun

The extremely popular Vargy's adventure course, with fun challenges for families with children, has been expanded with more attractions. Take a few turns and catch Vargy- tails on the way down!

To make Stöten's cross-country skiing more accessible for everyone, both young and old, a cross-country skiing area is being built at Stötentorget for the coming season. Here, right at the start of the lit cross-country trail, it's perfect to try cross-country skiing for the first time. Beginners can start with a few laps on the flat starting area, to get a feel for the equipment and the technique, before heading out on one of Stöten's longer cross-country trails.

The Stöten Race Academy, where the skiing clubs exercise, has been developed with significantly longer slopes and a higher fall height, which provides even more challenging training opportunities.

And last, but not least – to enable all this wonderful skiing on both new and well-known slopes, the snow system has been further developed to ensure as many open slopes as possible, regardless of the weather. The snow system now covers almost all slopes. In other words, the majority of the facility is secured snow from snow cannons, which creates the ultimate conditions for a good snow base and an early start to the ski season. An upgraded system results in reduced electricity consumption and increased environmental benefits.
