Sunpine delivers record production in 2025 – and further increases pace in 2026

Sunpine summarises 2025 as the strongest production year in the company’s 20-year history — the result of a systematic capacity increase at its facility in Haraholmen, Piteå. And in the beginning of 2026, production rates were increased even further.

– 2025 demonstrates that the green transition is not only alive, but is thriving when the right conditions are in place. We see strong demand both in Sweden and abroad, and we are proud to contribute renewable products that reduce the world’s dependence on fossil fuels, says David Öquist, CEO of Sunpine.

Sunpine’s main product is Raw Tall Diesel, an advanced biofuel feedstock produced from residual streams of the pulp and paper industry. In 2025, Sunpine achieved a production record increase of 17 percent. At the same time, the company strengthened its delivery capability through continued focus on quality, operational reliability and international market development.
– We have worked methodically to increase plant capacity while expanding our market activities across our entire product portfolio — including not only Raw Tall Diesel, but also bio-oil, rosin and alpha-pinene. As a result, we can produce more and reach more customers with our offering, says Mikael Lagerbom, Commercial Director at Sunpine.

Increased production pace from 12 January

Following the record production of 2025, Sunpine has already taken the next step. As of January 2026, the company has further increased its production pace.
– We are aiming for another record production year in 2026. For us, this is a clear signal of both our capacity and our confidence in the future — as well as a necessity to meet our customers’ already growing demand for our products, says David Öquist.

The green transition in practice

While public debate around climate policy and the pace of transition has at times been marked by uncertainty, Sunpine sees a strong long-term increase in demand. The market for renewable diesel in Europe is expected to grow by 300 percent by 2030.

Sunpine’s Raw Tall Diesel is used to produce renewable fuels such as HVO, helping to reduce emissions in sectors where alternatives are often limited. This includes heavy transport and industry, where electrification takes time and requires complementary solutions.
– At Sunpine, we are very positive towards electrification. At the same time, we know that an energy mix is required to achieve both short- and long-term climate targets. Advanced and sustainable biofuel feedstocks play an important role in the energy transition, says David Öquist.
