Welcome to Challenge Bernadotte
Challenge Bernadotte welcomes the best men's épée fencers in the world to Stockholm every year.
Challenge Bernadotte was first organised in 1998 and Arndt Schmitt of Germany was the first in a row of distinguished épéeists to claim the victory.
The competition originates from the national competition "Bernadottepokalen" which was organised in honour of the president of the Stockholm club Djurgården, count Oscar Bernadotte af Wisborg.
H.M. The King of Sweden is the protector of the competition.
Challenge Bernadotte is organised by the Swedish Fencing Federation, in co-operation with the Stockholm Fencing Region, the fencing clubs of Stockholm and the rest of Sweden.
The competition of 2011 collects all the best fencers in the world. It is the first qualification for the Olympic games in 2012 in London
