The ISU World Junior Synchronized Skating Championships started in 2013 and was originally held every second year. In 2017, it grew into an annual format and became the most renowned international competition for juniors in synchronized skating.
It awards the Teams according to their performances in both a Short and Free Skating Program. Teams eligible for the event must represent an ISU Member nation. They consist of 16 Skaters each (plus up to four alternates), who should be aged between 13 and 19 years old.
