Scanpack met the high expectations!

There were high expectations in the industry after the four-year wait – and they were met! There was a feeling of great elation as Scanpack 2022 drew to a close. ‘It was exactly the sort of sparkling, creative meeting place we’d been hoping for,’ says Anna Lena Friberg, Business Manager for Scanpack.

Scanpack, which was last held in 2018, made its eagerly awaited comeback at the Swedish Exhibition & Congress Centre from 4-7 October. There were high expectations as 397 companies from 25 countries took part in this year’s exhibition.

‘Finally we got to meet! Scanpack was exactly the sort of sparkling, creative meeting place we’d been hoping for, and that is thanks to our fantastic exhibitors and visitors. It’s been a joyful boost,’ says Anna Lena Friberg, Business Manager for Scanpack.

Barbro Berggren, Director of Marketing and Communications at DS Smith – Scanpack’s largest exhibitor – agrees:

‘We believe in meeting in person and have been eagerly awaiting this for four years. This is why we also focused on customer interaction at this year’s exhibition. And it was successful beyond our expectations: we were enormously busy on the stand, where we were showcasing smart packaging solutions and innovations.’

An exhibition for businesses

Scanpack had a total of 12,899 participants from 4,125 companies and 45 countries. There was a great deal of focus on business.

‘We had set up a high target for new leads at the exhibition; we achieved this and were delighted. On a scale of one to ten I would give this exhibition eleven,’ says Barbro Berggren.

There was a focus not only on businesses but also knowledge, ideas and discussions, which were shared on four different stages. The Scanpack Summit strategy conference and the Scanpack Pioneers innovation arena were two new initiatives this year that also attracted interest.

– At Pioneers, a number of start-ups were given the opportunity to talk about their innovative solutions, which aroused a great deal of attention. It was essentially a full house in all the stage areas, and we felt that we managed to pinpoint the themes that are pressing for our visitors,’ Anna Lena Friberg believes.

Scanpack – 60 years old in 2024

The build-up now starts towards Scanpack’s 60th anniversary. The next Scanpack is only two years away, on 22–25 October 2024. The anniversary will be marked in a number of different ways.

At the same time, the exhibition team will be strengthened by the addition of Monika Ölund, who will be a Business Manager. Monika has managed several exhibition projects and has extensive experience of leading positions in both municipal and private enterprises.

Voices about Scanpack 2022

Fredrik Lindblad, Sales Manager, Gea Food Solutions (exhibitor)
‘We clearly noticed that pent-up need to meet and found there was enormous interest in our packaging machinery for the food industry. The major food companies came to our stand, and we met all the ones we could imagine and more besides. We got a huge number of leads and are incredibly happy. Scanpack delivers!’

Claes Söderqvist, Sales Manager, Nordic Region and Baltic States, EOC Group(exhibitor)
‘For us, this exhibition has been a massive hit. We had our hands full. I wasn’t able to leave the stand on any of the days – not even to get some lunch. With regard to environmental requirements, we’ve come a long way in our development of water-based adhesives. We gained a number of new customer contacts and several sharp leads at the exhibition, including a large supplier to IKEA and a major Finnish company.’

Ariane Duthoit, Purchasing Manager, Clemondo AB(visitor)
‘As many of our suppliers are at Scanpack, it’s very good for me to meet them here. I optimise my visit by meeting close to 30 suppliers over two days. It’s incredibly time-efficient!’

Peter Nilsson, Purchasing Manager, Bong Sverige(visitor)
‘As one of Europe’s leading envelope manufacturers, it’s natural for us to visit Scanpack. We are always on the hunt for new packaging, adhesive systems, labels, innovations. Everything is here. I’ve booked in several meetings.’
