Healthcare Innovation in focus when Sweden visits The Netherlands

Today, 15 Swedish companies, organizations and representatives from the public sector visit the Netherlands to meet Dutch authorities and potential customers in the Dutch healthcare sector. The Netherlands is Sweden's seventh-largest export market and third-largest import market. The purpose with the trip is to find business opportunities and develop cooperations for improved access to efficient and equal care, cancer and digitalization being in focus.

- Sweden and the Netherlands are both highly innovative countries, particularly within digital health and cancer management. We are proud to bring this prominent delegation representing Swedish companies, organizations and representatives from the public sector, such as the Swedish eHealth Agency and Karolinska University Hospital, says Maria Helling, CEO of Swecare, which arranges the trip together with Business Sweden in the Netherlands.

The delegation will start in The Hague with a seminar on healthcare. Meetings await in Leiden at an insurance company and a visit to LUMC with NELL, National eHealth Living Lab. The last day will be spent in Amsterdam with study visits to NKI their National Cancer institute, NLC Venture Builder as well as Spaarne Hospital, with discussions on how innovation can be implemented and how this can bring us together. Meeting global health challenges together and creating a better access to equal care makes us stronger and is a must to reach efficiency and a healthier population.

Why the Netherlands:

The Netherlands is an attractive market for Swedish companies with its strategic location, high degree of digitalisation, technology, innovation, and sustainability. It is Sweden's seventh-largest export market and third-largest import market at SEK 162 billion in total 2021. It is also an interesting test market for onward expansion to other countries in Europe. The Dutch business climate bears clear resemblances to that of Sweden. Swedish companies and products enjoy a great reputation for innovation, tech, quality, as well as sustainability, among consumers. Business Sweden, Netherlands Business Climate Survey 2022 (PDF)
