Swegreen honoured as Smart Industry by The Royal Swedish Academy of Engineering Sciences

Swegreen is awarded at the Smart Industry 2021 by the Royal Swedish Academy of Engineering Sciences

The Smart Industry Awards focuses on drawing attention to and rewarding companies that harness and take advantage of the possibilities of digitalization in a smart and innovative way with concrete implementation and results. The prize initiated back in 2016 when the Enterprise and Innovation Minister of Sweden Mikael Damberg launched the national strategy for digitalization and called upon action widely amongst the backbone of the Swedish industry and engineering-based sectors. The Event was held since then by The Royal Swedish Academy of Engineering Sciences (IVA), in collaboration with the Association of Swedish Engineering Industries and Siemens.

Honorary award in Smart Industry 2021 to Swegreen

Swegreen, as AgTech company that offers an automated and digitized solution for vertical in-store growing of leafy greens, herbs and salads all year round, is prized with an honorary award in the Smart industry 2021.

The prize ceremony was opened by IVA’s vice-CEO and with a message from the Swedish Minister of Enterprise Karl-Petter Thorwaldsson. Sepehr Mousavi and Andreas Dahlin of Swegreen received the award from the jury representatives Johan Weigelt as chairman of the jury and CEO of Siemens in the Nordics Mikael Leksell and the CEO of the Association of Swedish Engineering Industries, Klas Wåhlberg.

The motivation was formulated as ‘’Swegreen as a company is a very good example of how intelligent technology in combination with new thinking and challenging established ideas can be used to create completely new business models - and even become something completely different and better than the original business idea. The company's clear focus on digitization as a tool for contributing to sustainable solutions and the circular economy is also well worth highlighting just in itself.’’

‘’This year's finalists were very different in terms of their activities but are all good examples of the opportunities that digitalization opens up. This year's awards go to companies that have used digitalization to develop completely new business models. This shows the power of digitalization, and we want to highlight them as role models for others to be inspired by’’, states of Johan Weigelt, Vice-CEO of IVA and chairman of the jury.
