TCS continues its support for one of Sweden's largest children's hospitals
STOCKHOLM | February 5, 2021: For the fifth year in a row, Tata Consultancy Services (TCS) has made a charity donation to Astrid Lindgren's Children's Hospital at Karolinska University Hospital in Stockholm. The donation is part of a longer-term initiative to facilitate children's hospital stays. Including the latest donation, TCS has now donated a total of Euro 76,000 to the hospital.
Previous donations have helped the children's hospital with modern and interactive technology to make one of the hospital corridors come alive and create an exciting experience for the hospital’s young patients. In addition, the hospital has acquired new sound pillows that help children listen to music or fairy tales. A sensory room and an interactive projector wall have also been installed in the hospital's play therapy department.
The donation is usually collected in connection with the TCS Lidingöloppet, for which TCS is the title sponsor, but in 2020 the race was not arranged as usual. TCS wanted nevertheless to maintain its collaboration and has therefore chosen to donate Euro 17,000 to Astrid Lindgren's Children's Hospital.
Speaking about the donation, Avinash Limaye, Regional Head of TCS Scandinavia, said: “At TCS Global, there is a great commitment to health and well-being among our staff and to society at large. In Sweden, we have chosen to support Lidingöloppet and Astrid Lindgren's Children's Hospital. 2020 was a different year and even though we couldn’t collect the money as we usually do, we still wanted to contribute to Astrid Lindgren's Children's Hospital and the environment in which the children live."
Svante Norgren, Theme Manager at Astrid Lindgren's Children's Hospital, said: "We at Astrid Lindgren's Children's Hospital appreciate that TCS has chosen to continue to support us. With this donation, we can continue to develop the play therapy department and ensure that children encounter interactive technology to advance their development during the time they stay with us."
